yep, i haven't lost weight or any inches this week. how is that possible? i'm training within my heart range, trying to hit and not exceed my net calorie intake...i'm really annoyed. maybe my thyroid medicine will help out within a few weeks? in any case, this is SO FRUSTRATING and why these hardcore phases rarely last for me. ughughughughugh.
food (warning: this is awful today. i've been like, starving all day which is absurd.)
3 pieces pizza alla vodka: 1038c, 49.2p, 4.8f
two cups chocolate milk: 360c, 16p, 0f
mocha with soy: 250c, 10p, 3f
totals so far: 1648c, 75.2p, 7.8f
ick.
exercise
i biked slowly for somewhere around an hour. my calorie estimator says that i hit about 400c
net: 1248c
...meaning that i need to exercise more before i eat.
can you tell that i'm feeling discouraged and unmotivated?
Hey girl-
ReplyDeleteI've been reading over your blog from the last couple of weeks (it's been awhile since I've had the time to sit down with my social media!) and I have some advice for you.
I understand you're frustrated that you haven't lost weight or inches this week, and I think that may be because your calorie deficit is too high. Most experts recommend a deficit of around 500-700 calories a day, or else your body could go into starvation mode (body doesn't let go of fat and uses muscle instead...aka SUCKS for weight loss). I would say chill out on the exercise a little bit OR eat more (healthy) calories to bring the deficit back into that range.
The 500-700 calorie a day deficit should have you losing 1-2 pounds every week, which, while not fast or particularly satisfying, is a really healthy pace to lose weight, and since it relies on moderation on diet AND exercise, I've found that it's the best lifestyle to maintain over time. Otherwise, it's really easy to fall of the wagon with the diet because of the extreme conditions you're putting your body through. If you're going to have a higher calorie day, then have a higher calorie day, and don't go too overboard with trying to compensate for it that day. Truth is, you can afford a higher calorie day every now and then (moderation=key) because your metabolism is way faster when it's used to moderate exercise. For example, I ate like shit during senior week and didn't work out much, but since I had worked out consistently the week before and had been good with food up till that point, I ended up gaining a whole 1 pound, as opposed to the potential for gaining many, many pounds (thanks to my good friends vodka, rum, and diet pop...)
Anyway, I'm trying to lose the last 10-15 pounds (aka vanity pounds) this summer, so you should keep me accountable on my blogging as well! I'm going to try to write once a week, but we'll see how that goes...

Thanks, Karen! I was definitely thinking about that this week and I'm grateful for your advice. See my upcoming post for details. And yes, I will for sure keep an eye on your blog. Thanks again!
